What AIBook Does

AIBook lets you build a personal reading library. You can upload e-books, documents, and web articles, then read, listen to, and interact with them using AI. The AIBook Chrome extension extracts article content from web pages you visit and saves it to your library.

What Data We Collect

  • Account information: Your email address, provided when you sign up via Auth0.
  • Content you save: When you use the extension or web app to extract or upload content, we store the text, title, author, and source URL in your library.
  • Reading activity: Your reading position and settings so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Basic analytics: The web app uses Google Analytics to understand how features are used. The Chrome extension does not include any analytics or tracking.

What the Chrome Extension Does

The extension only activates when you click the AIBook icon. It does not run in the background, monitor your browsing, or collect data from pages you visit.

When you click "Extract content":

  1. The extension reads the current page to identify the main article content.
  2. It highlights what it found and asks you to confirm.
  3. Only after you confirm does it send the content to our servers to save in your library.

The extension uses the activeTab permission, meaning it can only access the tab you are actively viewing when you click the extension icon. It cannot read other tabs or browse your history.

How We Use Your Data

  • To store and display your library content so you can read it across devices.
  • To provide AI features (chat, summaries, text-to-speech) on content you have saved.
  • To remember your reading position and preferences.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not share your data with data brokers.
  • We do not use your content for any purpose other than providing the AIBook service to you.
  • We do not monitor or record your browsing activity. The extension only reads page content when you explicitly trigger an extraction.

Data Storage

Your library content and account data are stored on servers managed by AIBook. Authentication is handled by Auth0. Content delivery uses AWS infrastructure.

Your Rights

You can delete individual books from your library at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, contact dwmkerr@gmail.com.
